The Aleksic String Trio

Das Aleksić Streichtrio

The Aleksić siblings were born in Jagodina, Serbia.

All three received their initial musical education at the School for Musically Gifted Children in Ćuprija (Serbia), which they completed with distinction. They were prizewinners in several national and international competitions, including the International Competition “Città di Stresa” in Italy, and have performed as chamber musicians at the Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS) as well as in various European countries.

Since 2002, the Aleksić siblings have been reunited in Vienna. All three have since graduated with distinction from the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna and are active, among others, with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, and the ORF Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna.

The Aleksić String Trio, founded in 2005, studied chamber music under Prof. Peter Matzka. It also received further musical inspiration from distinguished teachers and musicians such as Josef Luitz, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Johannes Meissl, Wolfgang Aichinger, Teresa Leopold, and Rudolf Leopold.

In numerous concerts, particularly in the Vienna area, the string trio performs both classical and contemporary repertoire. In 2012, the Aleksić String Trio also performed in the Schubert Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus, and in June 2014 it made its debut at the Brucknerhaus Linz, which was praised by critics in the highest terms (“an indescribable chamber music miracle”). Further concerts—among others as part of a project initiated by the Gottfried von Einem Foundation—have taken the ensemble across Austria, including appearances at the Konzerthaus Weinviertel, the Gottfried von Einem Festival in Oberdürnbach, as well as in Lienz and Zell am See.
